This exam is for individuals who want to teach special education students from grade preschool through 12, with mild to moderate disabilities. You will have one hour to answer five essay questions.
This section of the exam will cover referral, screening, and educational placement of students with mild to moderate disabilities. Designing, adaptation and utilization of assessment tools will also be included in this section of the exam.
Curriculum and Instruction
This section of the exam will cover these topics: the writing and utilization of an appropriate IEP, utilization of local, community, and state resources in designing programs for disabled students. Your knowledge of the evaluation, selection, and development of curriculum that is appropriate for students who are mild to moderately disabled will also be assessed.
Structuring and Managing the Learning Environment
This section of the exam will cover the development and implementation of behavioral modification plans, conflict resolution and problem solving; integration of services into the educational setting; and teamwork with other personnel and family members.
