Praxis II Teaching Students with Visual Impairments Exam
This exam is designed for individuals who would like to teach students with visual impairments. You will be given 2 hours to complete this 120 multiple choice question exam. There will be 12 questions regarding professional relationships, 53 questions regarding planning and instruction, 12 questions regarding professional ethics and legal aspects, 28 questions regarding the impact of visual impairments on student’s development, and 15 questions covering general knowledge.
Professional Relationships
This section of the exam will cover interpretation of medical and visual examination reports, networking with other teachers and team members, and counseling students with visual impairments and their parents.
Planning and Instruction
This section of the exam will cover learning environment structure, Braille, optical aids, technological devices, media, instructional materials, instructional methodology and, programming. Questions regarding IEP development, student assessments and, daily living skills for the visually impaired student will be included in this section of the exam.
Professional Ethics and Legal Aspects
This section of the exam will cover ethical constraints of special education programs, visual impairment and special education terminology. Questions regarding PL 94-142 and federal legislation regarding visually impaired students will be covered in this section of the exam.
The Impact of Visual Impairments on Student Development
This section of the exam will cover socialization and development of students with visual and other impairments. Development of visually impaired and normally sighted individuals will also be covered in this section of the exam.
General Knowledge
This section of the exam will cover publications, professional organizations, visual screening methods and referrals, programs, traits of visually impaired students, normal eye anatomy and, visual disabilities. Your knowledge of special education and multiple impairments will also be assessed in this section of the exam.
